TC Activities 20th Tripartite Meeting among the Secretaries-General of ASEAN-China Centre, ASEAN-Japan Centre and ASEAN-Korea Centre

On 17 October 2024, the 20th Tripartite Meeting among the Secretaries-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC), and ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) was held in Yangzhou, China. The meeting was chaired by ACC Secretary General SHI Zhongjun, with AJC Secretary General KUNIHIKO Hirabayashi and AKC Secretary General KIM Jae-shin in attendance. The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), led by Deputy Secretary-General ZUSHI Shuji, was invited to participate in a separate session with the ACC, AJC, and AKC.
During the session, DSG ZUSHI highlighted the successful resumption of the 9th Trilateral Summit among the Republic of Korea, Japan, and the People’s Republic of China, in May 2024, which set the course for the future development of CJK cooperation. He emphasized the importance of expanding the ‘Trilateral + X’ cooperation in the context of ASEAN and multilateral frameworks to further strengthen East Asia cooperation.
DSG ZUSHI also noted the TCS's fruitful engagement with the ACC, AJC, and AKC and expressed a desire to deepen communication and collaboration in youth development and education and other areas of common interests.
The three Centres expressed their appreciation for TCS’s significant contributions to APT, recognizing the importance of enhancing cooperation and communication. They reaffirmed their commitment to actively participating in future TCS activities and stressed the need for information exchange on a regular basis.
TCS has been actively developing cooperation with ASEAN through the model of ‘Trilateral + X’. The separate session marks a major step forward in reinforcing TCS’s role in APT cooperation and fostering closer ties with the three Centres.
