Mechanisms 2nd Trilateral Agricultural Ministers’ Meeting in Tokyo, Japan

The 2nd Trilateral Agricultural Ministers' Meeting (TAMM) was held on September 13, 2015, in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting was attended by Lee Dong-phil, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of Korea; Chen Xiaohua, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China; and Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan. Umezawa Akima, Deputy Secretary-General of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), also attended and delivered a keynote speech.
During the meeting, the three countries discussed topics such as 1) food security, 2) responses to plant and animal diseases, 3) natural disasters and climate change, 4) biomass energy development, 5) cooperation in agricultural science and technology, 6) the sixth industrialization of agriculture, 7) negotiations on the China-Japan-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA), 8) collaboration in multilateral frameworks, and 9) the establishment of a working-level director-general meeting. The three nations adopted a joint declaration and signed an MOU on cross-border animal disease response.
The 3rd TAMM will be held in China.
