On 14th July 2018, TCS Deputy Secretary-General HAN Mei attended the International Symposium on Trilateral Cooperation and Peace in Northeast Asia (Shanghai, China). The symposium was organized by the Trilateral Cooperation Studies Center (TCSC) of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). Nearly 30 distinguished experts and scholars participated in the symposium. In the opening remarks, DSG HAN introduced the
latest progress and TCS’ efforts in promoting the trilateral cooperation among China,
Japan and the ROK. She noted that continuously deepening trilateral
think-tanks’ exchange, strengthening mutual understanding, binding wisdom and building
consensus will positively advance the trilateral cooperation. The TCS will continue
sparing no effort to promote the exchange and cooperation among think-tanks of
the three countries.
In Session 1, DSG HAN delivered
the remarks focusing on “Trilateral Cooperation and Regional Stability”. She
pointed out that only through building consensus at the greatest extent, seeking
mutually beneficial cooperation, and making concerted efforts, can China, Japan
and the ROK, as the most influential countries in Northeast Asia, make the
trilateral cooperation into the real leading force of regional economic integration.
To this end, the three countries need to interact actively, create atmosphere
and condition for cooperation, deepen and enlarge mutual benefits, enlarge the
influence and attractiveness of the trilateral
cooperation. Meanwhile, the three countries should also make the trilateral
cooperation more ‘down to earth’, to consolidate the public support. DSG HAN
hoped that the three countries could seize the historical opportunity to
further deepen trilateral practical cooperation and cope with regional and
international challenges hand in hand.
During the period, DSG HAN also visited the TCSC of Shanghai International Studies University, and exchanged views on the ways of fully exerting positive effects of the TCSC with Dr. JIANG Feng, Chairman of the Board of SISU, and Prof. LIAN Degui, Executive Director of the TCSC.
