Seminar & Forum SG YANG Houlan attended the Binhai Forum on Peace and Development in Northeast Asia 2015 in Tianjin,China 2015-10-14 ~ 2015-10-15
Secretary-General YANG Houlan of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) participated in the Binhai Forum on Peace and Development in Northeast Asia 2015 (Forum) and delivered congratulatory remarks in the opening session, emphasizing the importance of trilateral cooperation as an indispensable component of Northeast Asia cooperation. Secretary-General YANG also introduced the progress of trilateral cooperation, as well as achievements made by the TCS in promoting trilateral cooperation in the past 4 years, then made suggestions on the future Northeast Asia cooperation, and expressed expectations for closer collaboration among relevant governments and regional organizations, and proposed closer cooperation among the three Countries’ Capital Areas.  

The Forum was held under the theme “Remove Obstacles and Build Trust for Deeper Cooperation” from October 13th to 15th, 2015 in Tianjin, China, with the participation of government dignitaries, scholars, researchers and journalists from the three Countries, Mongolia, Russia, and USA to share and exchange insight into security, economic cooperation, socio-cultural and inter-city cooperation in the Northeast Asia region. The Forum was hosted by China Foundation for International Studies (CFIS), and co-hosted by Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and Tianjin Public Diplomacy Association. During the Forum, Secretary-General YANG met HATOYAMA Yukio, Former Prime Minister of Japan, KIM Hyung-O, Former Speaker of National Assembly of ROK and QIAN Hongshan, Assistant Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of People’s Republic of China. Secretary-General YANG also paid a visit to Trilateral Circular Economy Industrial Zone in Ziya, Tianjin at the request of Foreign Affairs Office of Tianjin Municipal People’s Government. 

During the trip, Secretary-General met with WANG Shuhua, Director-General of Foreign Affairs Office of Tianjin Municipal People’s Government and had a discussion on possible future cooperation at the local government level among the three Countries.
