Mechanisms 19th TRIPO Heads Meeting in Kobe, Japan 2019.12.03 ~ 2019.12.04

Deputy Secretary-General CAO Jing attended the 19th TRIPO Heads Meeting among the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), Japan Patent Office (JPO) and Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), which was held in Kobe, Japan, on December 4, 2019. The meeting was chaired by Mr. MATSUNAGA Akira, Commissioner of JPO and attended by Mr. PARK Won-joo, Commissioner of KIPO and Mr. SHEN Changyu, Commissioner of CNIPA. 

 
At the meeting, DSG CAO Jing delivered remarks introducing TCS and contributions to trilateral cooperation achieved by TCS. She expressed sincere congratulations to the leadership of the three countries in improving the regional intellectual property system. She also underlined the commemoration of the 20th anniversary cooperation between China, Japan and Korea in 2019, and emphasized that TCS is ready to work together with relevant departments of the three countries to promote cooperation in various fields, including intellectual property cooperation, to a new level of development. 
 
The three commissioners introduced each country’s current IP development and had in-depth discussions on various topics for trilateral Intellectual Property cooperation. Towards the 20th anniversary of the mechanism in 2020 and in the face of rapid technological development, they shared a common view to further strengthen trilateral cooperation among the three offices to tackle common challenges. 
 
Followed by the Heads Meeting, the 7th TRIPO User Symposium was held under the theme of “Latest trends in administrative and judicial protection system of IP”.  Representatives from IP offices of China, Japan, and ROK, and legal professionals of the three countries discussed the IP policies from legal perspectives.
  
TRIPO Heads Meeting has been held since 2001 and TRIPO Symposium has been held since 2013, and TCS has been participating as an observer since 2014.
