Seminar & Forum 10th United Nations Global Compact China-Japan-Korea Roundtable Conference 2018-08-31
On 31 August 2018, TCS delegation headed by Secretary-General LEE Jong-heon participated in the 10th United Nations Global Compact China-Japan-Korea Roundtable Conference. The event was hosted by the Global Compact Network Korea in partnership with TCS, on the theme of “SDGs for Business- Challenges or Opportunities?”

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the event, H.E. Ban Ki-moon delivered a keynote speech inspiring the participants to address sustainable development goals for a better future. Secretary-General Lee delivered congratulatory remarks and emphasised that the efforts to achieve sustainable development can be enhanced by harmonising existing differences through communication and tapping into the potentials of the three countries. 

The event brought together academia, business and youth representatives from the three countries to discuss innovative ways to tackle ageing society and the 4th industrial revolution from business perspectives. Various case studies were presented by business and academic representatives and the youth delegates proposed ways to bring peace in Northeast Asia through business.

At a session where Local Networks of UNGC in China, Korea and Japan shared their country-specific experiences and knowledge regarding business sector’s approach to SDGs TCS also introduced its activities to support SDG-related government mechanisms in the three countries. TCS underlined that it stands ready to further support the activities of the CJK UNGC Networks to accelerate the business sectors’ endeavour to transform the current challenges into opportunities.
