On July 24, 2017, Secretary-General YANG Houlan paid a farewell call on H.E. Ms. KANG Kyung-wha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (ROK). Deputy Secretary-General LEE Jong-heon and Deputy Secretary-General UMEZAWA Akima attended the meeting.
Secretary-General YANG offered congratulations to Minister KANG on taking office and extended sincere appreciation toward Minister KANG and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the ROK for the continued support and guidance to the TCS and its activities as a Host Country. He reassured TCS’ commitment to continuous implementing the outcomes of the Trilateral Summit and looked forward to continued support and guidance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of ROK.
Minister KANG spoke highly of TCS’s work under the leadership of Secretary-General YANG in the past two years and mentioned that trilateral consultative mechanism can play a significant role. She reiterated that trilateral cooperation has made a lot of progress on a wide range of areas among the three countries. She further commented that the ROK side will continue to work closely with China and Japan in order to promote trilateral cooperation. She assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of ROK will continue to support the TCS in various aspects and expressed her hope that the next Board members can work on the good foundation laid by the previous Board.
